A Rainy and Rockin’ Way to End NY Climate Week

At this year’s Global Citizen Festival in New York City, Canopy was chosen as a feature organization and our work to transform supply chains and protect Ancient and Endangered Forests was showcased to in-person and virtual audiences around the world.

Global Citizen Festival Background

The Global Citizen Festival is not your ordinary music festival; it’s a global movement with a powerful purpose. This extraordinary event brings together Global Citizens, artists, activists, world leaders, philanthropists, and corporate giants, all united by a common goal: End Extreme Poverty NOW.

This year’s festivities took place on the Great Lawn of Central Park and featured iconic performances by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Jung Kook, Anitta, D-Nice, Conan Gray, Sofia Carson, and Stray Kids.

Strategically timed to coincide with the UN General Assembly, the Global Citizen Festival provides a platform to secure policy and financial commitments from global leaders, corporations, and philanthropists. It’s a catalyst to address the root causes of extreme poverty, including the disproportionate impact of climate change on people living in poverty.

Canopy’s work to transform supply chains

Canopy collaborates with diverse allies, like Global Citizen, the Cisco Foundation, brands, and eco-innovators to revolutionize the unsustainable supply chains for paper packaging and viscose-type textiles in order to keep forests – and their climate regulating functions – standing.

Together, we are saving forests, protecting the climate, and developing sourcing solutions that reduce impact and risk – a triple win for us and the planet.
